A mysterious illness forced a young woman to leave university. Little did she know that her suffering would one day be turned into joy after she had decided to serve the Lord full time.
Mulalo Mphephu (24) of Musina was doing a degree in marketing with the University of South Africa when serious pains in her stomach made it unbearable for her to concentrate on her studies. At one time, she spent a total of four months without going to the toilet. She tried everything to regain her health, from traditional healers to western doctors and prophets, but in vain.
Mulalo says her ordeal started when she was only two years old. She said she started having visions at the age of eight and when she turned 15, she became so sick that she missed most of her school days.
Her life changed in May last year when she attended a prayer meeting at Folovhodwe Tshapinda, outside Musina. “People prayed for me and my sickness was healed. After that, I heard a voice telling me that I should serve the Lord in order to help people. My daily work includes praying for people and spreading the Gospel of the Lord.”
She confirms that community members have started flocking to her home for prayers. “I can’t boast that I am healing them. It is only the power of the Lord that is working in me. I will continue to do this work because this is the best contribution I can make while I am still alive.”
She says she has plans to complete her studies in future. “Since I started serving the Lord on a full-time basis, I no longer suffer from the illness like I used to. Education is a must in today’s world and despite my busy schedule, I believe that I will one day be able to go back to university.”
Her message to those who believe in the power is the Lord is clear: “When God calls you, you must respond by serving Him. Otherwise, you will not get joy for the rest of your life.”
