NGWENANI - The question "who owns who?" at Ngwenani Ya Ha-Mapholi, got the answer last Saturday when Thovhele Kennedy Midiyavhathu Tshivhase installed the Themeli brothers, Ntsundeni and Mphephu as the new Gotas at the village.
It was a colorful ceremony attended by thousands of community members, royal women and pensioners clad in traditional attire.
Thovhele Tshivhase said that it was not a matter of overthrowing the existing Vhamusanda vho Themeli, but rather a way of ensuring that he cooperates with the new blood, so that the yoke would be easy for all to pull.
The two new headmen promised that they would get their advice from the old Vhamusanda Themeli. They were given only six months to build the palace and a traditional court. Traditionally, if there is a dispute at the village, it should be dealt with in the traditional court before it could be submitted to Thovhele.
The chiefdom name of Mphephu Themeli was Shumani Singo and he will rule from Madadani to Tshotendi. His twin brother (Gota) Ntsundeni Lavhelesani Themeli will rule the whole Malima village.
Mr Sami Themeli was Ndumi and Naledzani Themeli is Khadzi of Gota Mphephu. Ntsundeni's ndumi was Avhafunani and Khadzi was Dziedzi Themeli.
The installation did not bother the residents, as all of them agreed to pay a tribute of R10 each family.
Musanda Vho-Ramugondo said that Gotas are not supposed to get drunk and should they be found drunk, they will be dismissed.
