ABSA to close Krogh Street branch

News  Date: 27 September 2002

LOUIS TRICHARDT –

The decision was taken due to the low business volumes handled by the branch and follows a lengthy and thorough study of the branch's location and performance. Among the factors considered during such an exercise are business growth, volumes and future potential.

ABSA stated that they fully realise that they have a responsibility to provide alternative banking channels for clients who may have used such branches. In line with business trends to move towards electronic and telephonic methods of service delivery, the current three ATMs at the main branch will be increased to five on which clients can withdraw cash, make transfers, pay bills and draw enquiries of their accounts.

The current sub branch staff will all be deployed at the main branch to ensure that clients receive an even better service from ABSA. A brand new Self Service Centre will also open on November 4 in Thoyandou to cater for the increasing needs of ABSA clients in that area.
