HLANGANANI – A 17-year-old youth, who resides at Tiyani Village, has briefly appeared in the Hlanganani Magistrate's Court last Thursday, on a charge of indecent assault. This follows an incident that took place at Tiyani Village in the Hlanganani area from December 12 to 14 last year.
According to the spokesperson of the police at Hlanganani, Insp Falaza Vuma, the accused has allegedly sodomised the two boys aged six and eight at his home. The boys' mothers were away for work when the incidents took place.
The statement indicates that in all instances the accused lured the victims with fruits and sweets. The statement further indicates that the victims were given the fruits and sweets before and after the incidents. Insp Vuma stated that the victims were each ordered not to share their ordeal with anybody or else they would be in for trouble.
The matter was brought under the spotlight when the mother of one of the victims found him eating some fruits on her arrival from work on the 14th. She asked the boy as to where he got the fruits. The boy explained everything to her and revealed that his friend was also a victim.
The boys' mothers reported the matter to the police and the suspect was arrested a day later. He appeared in court two days after the incident and the matter was postponed to last Thursday, December 2 where it was again postponed to January 20. The suspect will remain in custody until his next court appearance, as his attempt to apply for bail bore no fruit.
