ROTTERDAM – Risenga Eric Khosa (32) of Rotterdam village appeared in the Tiyani magistrate's court last Thursday on a charge of rape. The incident took place at the Rotterdam village in the Hlanganani area on July 31 last year.

According to police spokesperson at Hlanganani Insp Falaza Vuma the accused allegedly raped his two stepdaughters at his home on the date in question. The statement indicates that the girls' mother was away for work when the incident occurred.

The statement further indicates that Khosa allegedly abused the two girls sexually one after the other after threatening them with death if they refused to abide by his instructions. Insp Vuma revealed that the girls revealed the whole story to their mother when she came back from work.

The mother took up the matter with the police. The suspect was on the run for several months until his arrest on December 16. He was arrested at his home. He appeared in the same court two days after his arrest and the matter was postponed to last Thursday.

Khosa was not asked to plead and the matter was again postponed to January 20. He will wait for his next court appearance whilst in custody as his bail application was turned down.
