The Levubu police are looking for five men in connection with an armed robbery which took place near the You Know Me farm along the Tshakhuma-Makhado road on Friday, 24 August.

A 50-year-old employee of a furniture shop in Makhado was driving back to work at about 16:30, when he noticed that there was a Polo Classic sedan driving behind him. Soon the driver of the sedan drove passed him and then turned in front of him, blocking his way. Five men emerged from the sedan, four of them armed. The driver opened the door and fled into the farm estate, leaving his occupants behind. The five men, however, chased after him and when they caught up with him, he was beaten with firearms and dragged back to the car. The robbers took R35 000 in cash that was in the vehicle.

"I can confirm that we've opened a case of armed robbery," said spokesperson for the Levubu police W/O Solly Mukhola. Anyone with information which could lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects can phone W/O Mukhola at 082 414 5859.
