The National Education Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) is accusing the chief executive officer of the Musina Hospital, Mr Simon Netshivhambe, of corruption and maladministration.
Nurses who are members of the union were picketing outside the hospital last Wednesday and Thursday, demanding that Netshivhambe step down. Nehawu’s regional chairperson, Mr Marcus Masindi, said that Netshivhambe had failed to provide “strategic leadership”. According to him, factions in the hospital are negatively affecting the patients.
He added that Netshivhambe was in conflict with a lot of people and members of staff and that there was no development of services at the hospital. “It is all due to the CEO’s internal fighting,” Masindi says. He further said that service delivery had been severely compromised, due to the lack of leadership and the mismanagement of funds within the hospital.
When contacted for comment, the provincial spokesperson for the Department of Health and Welfare, Sinenhlanlha Gumede, said: "Write that the communication officer is unable to comment on this matter."
Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter.
