MALAMULELE – The police at the Malamulele Police Station are investigating a rape case, following an incident that took place on Saturday August 24 during which a 15-year-old girl was raped by three men.

According to the police in a statement, three girls were from attending a festival at Malamulele Motors at about 19:00, when they came across three men who started chasing them. As the girls were running, the victim fell down. She became an easy prey for the three men. They then took her to the bush next to Malamulele Stadium where they all allegedly raped her.

After the rape one of the men allegedly took the girl to another spot, where he raped her again. According to Insp Moses Chauke, the spokesperson of the Malamulele police, their investigations are continuing.

In a similar case the police at Malamulele have arrested Hope Maswanganyi from Malamulele Township for raping a 14-year-old girl. The incident took place on Sunday, August 25. According to Chauke, the girl was walking behind the Malamulele shopping centre buildings when Maswanganyi allegedly met her. It is further alleged that he asked the girl to accompany him to a bushy place just behind the shopping centre.

It is there where community members found him red handed raping the girl and summoned the police who rushed to the scene and apprehended the culprit. Maswanganyi appeared in the Malamulele Regional Court last Thursday August the 29th. The case was postponed to a later date and Maswanganyi remains in custody.
