NWAMATATANI – Residents of Nwamatatani village are still puzzled after the death of a 14-year-old girl, whose body was found laying in the bushes on Monday morning.

According to the spokesperson of the police in the Lowveld area, Insp Hasani Mabaso, the young Mildred Baloyi was reported missing last Tuesday, August 27. This was after she left for school that morning and never returned home in the afternoon.

She was a Grade 8 pupil at the Msingi High School. Her body, which was in a decomposed state, was discovered in the bushes between the Nwamatatani RDP houses and Nwamatatani Village on Monday morning.

According to a statement by the police, Mildred's head was resting on her school bag and her left shoe was next to her body. The statement further indicates that there were no visible wounds on the young girl's body.

The police suspect that the girl might have been raped before she was killed. That is justified by the fact that the deceased's pants were torn off her body. No arrest has been made at the time of going to press.

Realising that there was no clue with regard to the death of the girl, the police have appealed to people who might have information relating to the incident to come forward. People with information regarding the incident can phone 015-8731206. All information will be treated confidentially.
