HA-MAKUYA - A 22-year-old man was arrested by the police in Thohoyandou in connection with an arson attack at Ha-Makuya on Sunday.

The suspect allegedly set alight four houses and broke the community's water tank.

According to Captain Ailwei Mushavhanamadi the suspect was also in possession of a firearm, and the people were afraid of apprehending him.

It is said that the suspect was unable to accept his father's death and started damaging the community's property.

The police arrested him and he will appear in court soon.

In another incident a 30-year-old woman was arrested last Friday, for bumping her car against a tree, allegedly for the sake of getting a new car from her insurance company.

The police and the insurance company got the information that the suspect told her friends that she will damage her car in order to get another one from her insurance. She will appear in court soon for malicious damage to property.
