More than 3 000 people attended the installation of Chief Balanganani Takalani Manavhela as the new chief of Mufeba village. The ceremony took place at Mufeba last Friday.

The people of Mufeba village had been living without a leader since the death of Chief Mavhetha Manavhela in 2002. Chief Manavhela’s ndumi is Mr Faranani Manavhela and Mrs Marcia Manavhela was appointed khadzi of the family.

The new chief prefers teamwork and promised to work in close cooperation with the community. He added that the villagers must participate in the development of their village. “I am now focusing on the development of the young people in different fields,” he added.

The acting mayor of the Makhado Municipality, Cllr Gideon Tshavhuyo, encouraged the new chief to carry out his duties with dignity as the leader of his clan. He also told him to refrain from bad habits and encouraged the new chief to work hard, but he warned him against the danger of abusing his power.

"If you get out hand, you may be dethroned by the same people who installed you in your position," Tshavhuyo said.

Khosi Vho-Nndweleni Mashamba officiated at the installation of the new chief.
