THOHOYANDOU - Accused number one in Kopanang/Tanganani's pyramid scheme court case, Dorcus Mado Pitso received another blow this week. On Monday, a decision on her bail application could not be made, because Adv Jonathan Rapudi was not available.
Pitso will only know if she will be granted bail or not later today (Friday). Media people, investors and interested parties waited for hours to see Pitso appearing for her bail application on Monday. The accused was also waiting anxiously in the cells to get her freedom, since she was arrested three months ago.
Mirror only learnt late in the evening that application couldn't be heard as Rapudi was attending an internal computer course, which is compulsory in the department. Although, investors and investigators has pleaded that Pitso should not be given bail, Adv Sydwell Sikhwari said he was hopeful that his client was going to get her freedom today. However, Sikhwari said he would accept any decision taken by Rapudi.
Pitso and Frank Kutumba Kay Kay Kwezi (33) were arrested by Limpopo Commercial branch unit two months back, after five years of searching by the police for the couple, who disappeared with more than R15 million of unsuspecting investors in March 1997.
Many of these investors, including doctors and nurses, teachers and principals, respected business people and others are from the far north area while the scheme was stationed in Thohoyandou.
