THOHOYANDOU – Monday, August 19, is the D-Day for Dorcus Mado Pitso, co-owner of the Kopanang//Tanganani Pyramid scheme, as she will be knowing if the court is going to give or deny her bail.
Pitso, whose friend, Frank Kutumba Kay Kay Kwezi (33) has withdrawn his bail application, has her bail application postponed to Monday, August 19, after the preciding officer, Adv Rapudi had decided to give the investigating officer Captain Takalani Nematswerani more time for investigations.
Nematswerani told the court, while opposing Pitso's bail application in the last hearing that Pitso accused number one was wanted by police in Western Cape while accused number two, Frank Kutumba Kay Kay Kwezi (33) is also wanted by police in Kimberly.
The couple's bail application was first heard on July 5, where Magistrate MSR Mantsha postponed the case to July 11. It followed after the two legal teams have agreed that there should be a neutral magistrate who will be coming from outside Venda, to avoid a conflict of interest.
However, only Pitso applied for bail on July 11 as Kwezi indicated that he was no longer going to apply for bail.
Nematswerani appealed to court, which was overcrowded by the concerned investors and media people, that Pitso should not be given bail to give police ample chance to investigate the case. A legal team headed by Advocate Sydwell Sikhwari represents Pitso.
The court last heard that Pitso owned three houses worth R4, 4 million registered in her names. She even owned three cars; a Caravelle bought in 1999 for R240 000, Mercedez Benz E 320 bought for R235 000 and Toyota Rav 4 worth R180 000 this year, two days in succession. All cars and houses were bought for cash.
Many of the investors expressed their disappointment and disgust on how they were fooled by a young couple who was all under the age of 28 by then.
In another case, Mr Thilivhali Mulaidzi, the former Thohoyandou traffic boss, who was axed by the municipality recently is also going to appear in front of the court on Tuesday, August 20 for fraud.
Mulaudzi is out on R50 000 bail after he was arrested for allegedly selling drivers licences three years ago. Mulaudzi together with the other two officials were suspended with full pay until when he was fired last month.
The other two officials were reinstated last year.
