Another toilet down the drain?

VUWANI – The quality of workmanship of the contractors who built RDP toilets at Dindela in the Tshimbupfe area was placed under the spotlight this week, when numerous people called the offices of Mirror, complaining about the toilets.

When Mirror visited the house of Mrs Nyawasedza Munarini, it was a sorry sight that met our reporter, as the toilet was sinking into the ground. Another frightening aspect is that children are hiding inside when they are playing, without taking into consideration that it can collapse on them.

Mrs Munarini told Mirror that, since her toilet started sinking into the ground, she has asked the builders who built that toilet to come and rebuild the foundation. Unfortunately, nobody was interested in rebuilding the toilet. "They just keep on promising, without any action," she said.

Munarini is a businesswoman who is running her traditional shebeen, which is selling traditional beer and mageu. She stated that her customers are still using the toilet. Although she warns them from entering, some of them are brave enough to use toilet with no fear.

The councillor of the area, Cllr Khamusi Mauba, said that he had not received any complaint from the woman or even from the civic structure of that village. After Mirror's investigation, he said he will visit the area and deal with it accordingly.

"If there is a bad situation within my ward, please contact me as soon as possible because I am the one who will pass on your requests," he said.
