MUTALE – A project that is managed by an international company will soon get underway at Mutale. According to the Mayor of Mutale, Mr LM Manyuha the American Company has several agencies in South Africa.
The company will harvest a "rubber compound" from a tree, known as the Gualule. The rubber will be used in the manufacturing of condoms and gloves.
The area of Mutale is seen as suitable to grow these trees, because they usually survive in drought areas. Manyuha further stated that he had already discussed the issue with Chiefs in the area. Many Chiefs have already provided land where the trees will be planted.
According to Manyuha, they will start with 30 hectares of land to plant the trees. He further added that people are going to benefit from this project because it will supply them with employment.
