The SAPS in the Limpopo province are still baffled by the death of Insp Adam Nditsheni Davhana (42), who was ambushed and gunned down by two armed men at Tshituni last Friday.
He was shot in the head and died instantly. This all happened while he was heading for his home at Tshituni village. He was on his way from the Makhado Bar Lounge. The incident happened at around 23:00.
According to Captain Ailwei Mushavhanamadi, spokesperson of the SAPS in the Far North, it is said that the men have told Davhana that they were looking for him for quite a long time. A friend of Davhana, who accompanied him, allegedly fled and the men then produced a 9mm pistol and shot him in the head.
Capt. Mushavhanamadi said that the motive for the killing is still unknown to the police, but Insp. Davhana arrested many people in the Nzhelele Area on several charges during the past years.
Last year Davhana was shot in the leg on his way from work at Makhado. Nobody was arrested in connection with that incident.
By the time of going to press the police were still looking for the suspect, so far nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to Insp. Abel Thavhana of the police at Dzanani, the police are looking for 22-year old Oriah Manabela Nkosi (ID 790901 5612 08 3) in connection with Insp. Davhana's murder. Anybody who has knowledge about his whereabouts should phone the nearest police station or the Dzanani Police Station.
In a similar incident, a sheriff escaped death when a gunman at Makhado Township confronted him last Thursday. According to Insp. Abel Thavhana, the man assaulted the sheriff. He was arrested and will appear in court soon.
In another incident, the Dzanani SAPS have arrested an illegal immigrant at Makhado, after being found in possession of an illegal firearm. He will appear in the Dzanani Magistrate's Court soon.
