NZHELELE – An alleged rapist made it easy for the police to arrest him, after he fell asleep in the same bed where he had allegedly raped a woman.

According to a police spokesperson, Captain Ailwei Mushavhanamadi, the suspect, Ndivhuwo Thomas Nekubvule (18), was found snoring by police who were informed by the victim. Mushavhanamadi said the suspect broke into the house of the 43-year-old victim, last Sunday morning at about 02:00.

"The woman said the suspect, who was drunk, threatened to stab her if she screamed while he was raping her," Mushavhanamadi said. "He then fell asleep in the same bed, while the woman went to Ramavhoya satellite police station to inform the police. The police found him asleep when they came back with the woman, and arrested him," said Mushavhanamadi.

Nekubvule appeared in the Dzanani Magistrate's Court on Tuesday and the case was postponed to September 18. He is in custody.
