MUTALE – The Mutale Municipal Manager, Mr Thiathu Godfrey Netshanzhe, visited Botswana recently.
According to Mr Netshanzhe, he left South Africa on Wednesday July 26, and came back on July 29. Netshanzhe told Mirror that Mr R Ramugondo, Acting Head of Administration and Mr Tshikombeni, who is the councillor for housing, accompanied him.
According to Netshanzhe, representatives from other municipalities like Musina, Polokwane and the Vhembe District Council also visited Botswana. The Institute initiated the visits for Housing. The aim of the visit was "to meet the Botswana Department of Land and Housing," said Netshanzhe.
According to Netshanzhe they also met the Housing Development Co-operation, which correlates to the NPDC in South Africa. In Botswana low class people are given loans to build houses and inspectors are hired to monitor these houses.
He stated that the people of Botswana work in teams and this leads to transformation. Netshanzhe further said that the Botswana government concentrates more on the urban areas even though there is an effort made in the rural areas. The Mutale Municipality will try its best to identify areas where houses will be built and try to get developers who are willing to invest in this housing project, said Netshanzhe.
