News  Date: 26 July 2002

LEMANA- One of Lemana College's stalwarts, Mr E A Magega, has passed away. This tragic event took place on 18 July, 2002, at the Elim hospital.

Mr Magega had been a member of the Lemana College Council since 1996 and he was still serving that body when he passed away. In his position as chairman, he was a hard-working and dedicated member, with the result that he was re-elected for a second term. During this time, he led the college in the process of transforming from a college of education, to a multi-purpose centre, which is the status the college has today.

As a former student of the college, he spearheaded the forming of the Lemana Alumni Association in 1997. Due to his efforts, a Lemana Day of Celebration was held.

The college was declared a National Heritage Site and a monument, which had been unveiled by the Premier of the Northern Province on October 1, 2000, was erected there.
