News  Date: 23 January 2013

The Levubu police have opened a case of business robbery, following an incident where four unknown suspects allegedly robbed a local business of R40 000 in cash and valuables.

On Saturday, 12 January, the suspects allegedly entered a local supermarket at around 23:00 at Mashau Thondoni. One of them produced a gun and threatened the occupants with death if they made any noise. The other suspects ordered the men in the store to hand over whatever amount of money they had with them.

According to the spokesperson for the Levubu police, W/O Solly Mukhola, the suspects walked away with at least R40 000 in cash, airtime vouchers and cigarettes with an estimated value of R1 500. “We appeal to members of the community to assist us with information which may lead to the identification and arrest of the possible suspects in this case,” said W/O Mukhola.

“We would also like to take this opportunity to advise all business owners in our policing area to not keep large amounts of money in their possession. Keep your money safe in the bank.”
