LOWVELD – The police in the Lowveld area are looking for two armed robbers, following an incident that took place at the Hasefuna Farm near Tzaneen on Tuesday afternoon at about 12:30.
According to the spokesperson of the police in the Lowveld area, Capt. Moatshe Ngoepe, the complainant was alone in her house when the incident occurred.
The complainant is a 65-year-old woman. According to the police statement two men, who were armed with a panga and firearm, entered into the complainant's house at the time of the incident. The men allegedly grabbed the woman by the hand.
They allegedly took her to the corner of the house and put a cloth into her mouth and ordered her not to make a move. The robbers then went inside the house and stole goods ranging from television sets, a hi-fi, clothes and kitchen utensils.
The value of the stolen goods is estimated at about R5 000. One of the robbers allegedly hit the lone woman with an open hand in the face, before they fled on foot and disappeared into the surrounding bushes. A neighbour, who came to the house after the incident, rescued the woman.
The search for the robbers was still on at the time of going to press. The police have appealed to people who might know anything about the incident to contact the Serious Violent Crime unit at Tel. 082 451 7178. According to them they will treat any information with the confidentiality it deserves.
