THOHOYANDOU – Black Leopards' performance in the Telkom Charity Cup voting system has been far beyond people's expectations. Although many thought it was obvious that the Thohoyandou outfit be part of the four teams that will compete in the prestigious competition at the FNB Stadium tomorrow very few, if any, imagined the local team leading the pack in the voting system.
Lidoda Duvha booked a place in the competition with 125 450 votes. They were followed by Moroka Swallows, Orlando Pirates and then Kaizer Chiefs, who have 109 878, 102 870 and 101 743 votes respectively.
Black Leopards and Moroka Swallows will be the first to enter the field of play. The kick-off whistle for this semifinal match will be blown at 09:30.
Although many wished to see Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates playing in the finals, the tossing system went the other way, as the two teams will meet in the second semifinal fixture that is scheduled to start at 11:30. The winners of the two matches will meet in the finals at 16:15.
The match between Leopards and Swallows will be a war of the coaches. Swallows are now under the watchful eye of the former Leopards coach, Gavin Hunt, while Leopards' new coach, Arnaldo da Silva, wants to show his employers that they had not employed him by mistake.
The Public Relations Officers of the four clubs, Tshifhiwa Thidiela (Black Leopards), Godfrey Gxowa (Swallows), Putco Mafani (Kaizer Chiefs) and Thabiso Parkies (Pirates), have thanked their supporters for voting them in and promised to show them world class football tomorrow.
At the time of going to press, a spokesperson for Leopards had confirmed that more than five buses of fans would be accompanying them to the FNB Stadium.
