School receives R5 000 to put up fence

News  Date: 11 June 2004

HADAVHANA - The learners, teachers, SGB and the rural community of Hadavhana in Vuwani were over the moon when a well-known businessman in Limpopo donated R5000 cash to fence off the schoolyard.

The Ramaligela Primary School is one of the schools in Limpopo situated near the bush of Gabeni in Vuwani, where there is a need for a security fence. The school management decided to apply for a donation from different businesspeople, because some parents are totally impoverished. Since the school was built in 1999, it has still been experiencing problems, such as insufficient classrooms, no staff office, a shortage of chairs, no water tank, not enough toilets and no sports grounds.

Two months ago, one of the Samaritans in the Limpopo Province, Mr Lazarus Mathivha, approved their application without hesitation. He visited the school before he donated the money, and was touched by the plight of the school.

The school asked for R1 000 from Mathivha to fence the schoolyard, but he donated R5 000. He had already built toilets for the rural primary school of Thlangelani in Malamulele. The Sigwavhulimu Primary School in the Vuwani area also received two classrooms.

He is also building a clinic for the rural community of Malonga near Giyani. Currently, he has pledged to build toilets and classrooms for rural schools like Tshimbupfe Secondary School, Tshisevhe Primary School and others.
