LOUIS TRICHARDT - An art society has been established by a steering committee consisting of Jan de Bruyn, Fanie Olivier and Annette Kennealy.

Cafe d'Art has made its lovely premises available for a permanent exhibition of local artworks and all local artists have been invited to contact Annette at 0833268988 to arrange for a meeting with a selection committee of experts.

The official opening of the art exhibition will take place on Friday, 2 August at 19:00 and tickets can be obtained from Christelle at Cafe d'Art at R25 per person. The evening promises to be a special event with sherry and soup and a hot pudding to be served.

The first set of exhibits will be replaced by the middle of September and a lunch will be served in the garden of Cafe d'Art to the accompaniment of violin and guitar music.

The steering committee also plans to arrange poetry readings and local poets are requested to contact Jan de Bruyn at 0822511199.

The performing arts are also to be included in the society's activities and all those interested in the founding of a Drama Society should contact Jan de Bruyn
