Security guard shot dead in attack

MAHATLANI - Two security guards, who were collecting money at different shops, were attacked at Mahatlani Village last Wednesday. One of the guards was killed instantly when he was shot in the head.

According to the police spokesperson in the Lowveld, Insp. Hasani Mabasa, two guards arrived at the shop. Shortly after arriving at the shop, a white Nissan Sentra arrived at full speed.

Insp Mabasa further indicated that two unknown men jumped out of the vehicle and fired shots at the guards. One shot hit a guard in the leg and the other guard was hit in the head.

According to Mabasa, an amount of R105 000 and two fire-arms were stolen during the incident.

The registration number of the Nissan Sentra is HGY 131 GP. No one had been arrested yet at the time of going to press. Meanwhile, police investigations are continuing.

Mabasa also urged members of the community to help the police to identify the suspects. Anybody with information regarding the incident may phone the Hlanganani police at 015-873 1529.
