THOHOYANDOU – Members of the community expressed their shock and disbelief as police arrested a council member of the Thulamela Municipality last Thursday.
Police spokesperson, Capt Ailwei Mushavhanamadi, confirmed that they have arrested Patrick Musetha (54), a council member, residing at the Gondeni area and Robert Tshamano (38). They were both arrested near the Thohoyandou Stadium, after a tip-off from community.
"Following a tip-off from the community, we managed to arrest the two in possession of a rhino horn and elephant trunk. The two appeared in court last Friday and were given bail of R2 000 each". The case was postponed to 5 September.
Meanwhile, the municipal manager, Mr Makonde Mathivha said they were aware of the arrest of the councillor. He added that they would wait for the legal process to take its course.
