"Repair your eroded streets," asks MEC

NZHELELE - The Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Mr Collins Chabane, spent last Thursday in the Nzhelele area motivating the residents to repair the eroded streets.

In his speech the MEC stated that he was excited about his co-operation with Thovhele Toni Mphephu, because it represented the department's response to the President's call during his state-of-the-nation address two months ago. "Our President encourages all departments to contribute in the national efforts to build a better life for the people in the spirit of the Vuk'uzenzele and Letsima programmes."

According to Chabane, the effort to repair the eroded streets will not receive financial assistance. He said that the government had only put aside a certain amount of money for repairing national roads.

He said that the government would negotiate with a manufacturer to design a special fence that will be used to protect stray animals from getting into the national roads. The government would be able to identify the fence if it got stolen. Chabane discouraged pedestrians from ignoring overhead pedestrian bridges to cross busy roads.

Chabane slammed the misconduct of residents of Sikhukhune at the River cross-area where four classrooms' windowpanes were broken.

The MEC and Thovhele Toni Mphephu were involved in repairing of the Vhutuwangadzebu streets.

Thovhele Mphephu praised the MEC for his visit to the Nzhelele area and he promised the MEC that he would impose strict punishment on people found damaging Public Works' property.

According to Thovhele Mphephu all the streets are now in a good condition.
