Miss Pinky Rasalanavho is the new queen of the Vhembe FET College.

The 18-year-old lass from Tshidimbini outside Thohoyandou was crowned as the new queen last Saturday (30 March), during a glittering pageant held at the 2010 Centre. She is a student in chemical engineering at the Makwarela campus of the college and, in the past, has been crowned as Miss New Generation 2011 and Miss Teen Production 2009.

Ms Thandi Mkhize (22) was crowned as the first princess and she is also Miss Personality. Miss Tshililo Divhani (22) is the second princess. All the winners received microwave ovens and audio equipment.

According to one of the organisers, Zwiitwaho Maphiri, from Mulivhuhe Azania, they are happy with the outcome of the contest as well as the fact that they had done something for the young rural adults. “Most of the talented young ladies never receive the opportunity to show their talent, especially in modelling.”

The winners will soon compete with the winners of the other local FETs and will also have the opportunity to compete for the Miss FET Limpopo crown.
