SIBASA - Angry villagers of Dididi outside Thohoyandou were rampaging outside the Sibasa Area Commissioner's office last Friday, protesting against the delay of the Thohoyandou police to arrest the suspects in an alleged ritual murder case at Dididi Village.
Before the disappearance of Mr Mutavhatsindi on September 1, 2003, the villagers had been perturbed about the disappearance of Mr Phineus Khashane Booi Mudau, who was found dead on September 22, 1999, who had not died a natural death. The matter was reported to the Thohoyandou Police, but no arrest was made.
The community demanded that suspects in these murder cases should be arrested quickly and all the information from the police should be reported to the special project team comprised of members of the Dididi Community. They also demanded that there should be mutual cooperation between the community and the investigating officer. They wanted the police to offer a reward to people who have information.
The police were given seven days to respond to the memorandum. Supt Van Niekerk, on behalf of Area Commissioner Joseph Maepa, received the memorandum.
