LEMANA – "The Lemana College can offer a meaningful solution to the poverty problem in the country." These were the ords of a well-known cleric, Rev. SPH Khosa.

Khosa was the guest speaker during the certificate awarding ceremony of Lemana College, held at the college hall last Friday. Twenty-six students received certificates in EWP Needlework, Microsoft Office, Travel and Tourism, Hospitality Services and Horticulture during the ceremony.

Khosa said poverty means illiteracy and is degrading to humanity. "We must protect ourselves against poverty, not by toyi-toying, but through corrective actions," he said. He described Lemana as a people's institution and said the students must use the knowledge they obtained at the college to fight poverty by creating work opportunities.

According to him, the courses at the college, a multi-purpose centre, are practical, with the aim of creating jobs. He appealed to the students to rise above the challenges of the time and to help communities with their knowledge.

"Be the best in your field of expertise," he added.
