Following a recent national newspaper’s claim that at least 650 women and children have been raped in Limpopo since the beginning of the year, the Democratic Alliance (DA) said they would ask the provincial police commissioner to release the rape statistics.

This announcement follows a recent document that was leaked in the City Press that more than 650 rapes have been reported across the province since the beginning of the year. This has led the DA to describe the current situation as a crisis and unacceptable.
