Tico makes broadcasting look like "child's play"

MULEDANE – The youngest radio presenter at the Univen community radio station, which is situated in the town of Thohoyandou, is excelling on air.

Thikolelwi Liphadzi (23) is known as "Tico" to his listeners. He was born and bred in the Muledane area and matriculated in 1999 at the Thohoyandou Secondary School.

He then went to Johannesburg for training in radio broadcasting. In 2002, he joined Univen Community Radio, where he is hosting the breakfast show from Monday to Friday and the International Top 30 on Sunday.

Univen FM is well known for grooming young talent and several former members of the Univen FM team are now household names in broadcasting in South Africa. Some of their former employees are Thivhudziswi Lukoto (TV newsreader), Tshifhiwa Doyoyo (TV newsreader), Ndivhuyafhi Mathode (Phalaphala FM Current Affairs), Josias Masimbane (Phalaphala newsreader), Jonez Netshipise (Phalaphala presenter) and Wanda Juniper (Phalaphala presenter).

Tico said that his ambition is to present at one of the SABC stations like his colleagues, who are working for different electronic media
