Sioga is the region's best driver

THOHOYANDOU – An employee of the South African National Defence Force, Mr MD Sioga, was nominated the best driver during the Vhembe District Department of Transport Driver of the year competition, which was held at the Thohoyandou Stadium parking area on Saturday.

He obtained the first position in the bus category and was nominated the overall winner in the competition. Mr B Rambau, of Great North Transport, finished second in the same category. Mr MP Negogogo, who works for the Magwaba Bus Company, took third place.

Mr Enos Mususumeli was the winner in the articulated truck category. He works for the Coca-cola Fortune Company. The second position went to an employee of the Venetia Mining Company, Mr Peiser Pieter, while Mr Gert Du Plessis, from Coca-Cola Fortune, finished third.

The winner in the rigid truck category was Mr ET Muavha from South African Breweries. He was followed by an employee of Coca-Cola Fortune, Mr C Baloyi, with the third position going to Mr Matsilele Chauke, from the Department of Agriculture.

The winners were given trophies and certificates. They will participate in the provincial competition that will be staged in Polokwane on Saturday, August 18. The winners in the provincial competition will proceed to the national competition that will be held at the Kingspark Soccer Stadium in Durban, on October 30 and 31.

The competition was sponsored by several companies, including Coca-Cola Fortune, Vhavenda Bricks, Phadziri Bus Service, Netshituni Bus Service, Magwaba Bus Service, Swangi's Bus Service, Enos Bus Service, Mulaudzi Bus Service, Great North Transport, Department of Public Works and Thulamela Municipality.
