GIYANI – Dynamos' boss Pat Mathebula has disputed the rumours that their team is for sale.
This follows reports from the papers that First Division team, Celtic, has been trying to negotiate with Malabela with a view of buying the team, "because it is in a financial crisis".
Malabela said, "I never spoke to Celtic and the team is not for sale." Before referring further comment to the team's Public Relations Officer, Pastor Mafumo, Malabela also added, "The team is okay, but we never had money and we still do not have money, but we are surviving like before."
Mafumo also disputed rumours that they were intending to sell their team. "To be honest, there is nothing like this. These guys, Celtic, were desperate for promotion. After losing their protest against Silver Stars, now Dangerous Stars, they thought Dynamos, as the team is owned by Pat (Malabela) alone, they can buy it. Bush Bucks made the same thing. What they did, both of them went to the papers with a view that we will respond to them because we need money." The team is busy training in Musina, he said. According to him, the rumours are affecting the team badly, "as we are campaigning for Telkom Charity Cup. We are not alone who are suffering financially. All teams in the PSL are affected. Of course we do not have cash in hand. What we do, we wait for PSL monthly grants in order to pay our players. This means that if the PSL delay paying, we must also take time to pay our players," he said.
"However, that does not mean we will sell the team. This team belongs to the people. We have been pulling a lot of supporters to the stadium throughout the whole of last season at home. That is another area where we get our money and definitely we cannot sell the team," said Mafumo.
