MALAMULELE – The police at Malamulele are investigating a case of armed robbery, following an incident that took place at the Malamulele Township on Monday morning at about 01:00.
According to a police spokesperson in the Mopani area, Insp Hasani Mabaso, Mr Wilson Marima was confronted by three unknown men at the doorway of his house during the morning of the incident.
He was returning from collecting money from his businesses when the incident occurred. The statement indicates that one of the three men produced a firearm and pointed at him. He was then ordered to surrender a bag containing money amounting to R11 900 to the robbers.
The robbers searched Marima and also took his cellphone. The statement further indicates that the robbers also assaulted Marima's wife with their fists before they vanished into the darkness. No arrest has been made at the time of going to press.
The police have appealed to anyone who has information regarding the case to phone them at Tel 082 357 7155.
In another incident the police at Bolobedu have arrested a 37-year-old man for armed robbery, following an incident that took place at Lekwareni village last Saturday night at about 23:00.
According to the statement the 30-year-old victim was walking alone in the street when the incident occurred. Along the way he met the suspect who ordered him to hand over his money at gunpoint. He was robbed of cash amounting to R400 and a wristwatch during the incident. The matter was reported to the police the following morning and the suspect was arrested the later that afternoon. He was still to appear in court at the time of going to press.
