Three men and a woman appeared in the Sibasa Regional Court last week in connection with a case of robbery which took place at a house in Tshakhuma-Luvhalani on 3 October last year.
Freddy Mulovhedzi (55), Fulufhelo Mulovhedzi (22), Lufuno Mavhunge (29) and Ms Vhulahani Ndou (40) stand accused of robbing R28 000 from the local stokvel’s treasurer, Mrs Joyce Mukwevho, at her home.
The case was postponed to 19 September for the trial to continue and for witnesses to testify about the two intruders who entered their house on the night of the incident.
This case followed after Mukwevho and her daughter Aluwani were awakened by men who assaulted them with an iron bar, demanding money from them. The two ladies eventually handed the thieves R28 000, which reportedly belonged to the local stokvel.
Mukwevho and her daughter were seriously injured during the robbery, and Mukwevho was consequently hospitalised for six days.
All the accused are out on R1 000 bail each, except Mulovhedzi (Snr), who had since violated his parole conditions.
At the time of his arrest, he was on parole, after serving more than 10 years in jail for a similar crime.
