Takers FC celebrate successful season

After a successful soccer season, one of the affiliates of the Safa Vhembe SAB League, Maweja Takers, deemed it fit to celebrate their achievements. They held an awards ceremony at the Matopo Lake Garden Hall a fortnight ago.

Several players received awards during the ceremony. The award for the most disciplined player was given to Mbavhalelo Thathaisa. He went home with a trophy, a gold medal and R250. Zwivhuya Tshisaphungo was the winner of the most improved player award and received a trophy, a gold medal and R250.

The players’ player of the season, Rambuda Nekhudzhiga, took home a trophy, a gold medal and R300. The top goal scorer, Mukandangalwo Ramunana, received a similar award.

The player of the season, Khumbudzo Muvhango. received R500, a trophy and a gold medal. Khuliso Netshaulu, who was nominated the most exciting player, received a trophy, a gold medal and R100.

The chairman’s award was presented to the general manager of the team, Mr Mukondi Nemavhulani. He received a trophy. The winners for the fans of the season award, Messrs Ntshavheni Mutheiwana and Bally Ndou, were each presented with special regalia for their unwavering support.

The technical team, Messrs Lucky Nelukau (head coach) and his assistants, Justice Nephali and Tumelo Ramunana, were each presented with R3 000.

Both the acting traditional leader of Tshakhuma village, Vho-Elvis Madzivhandila, and a representative from the local civic association, Mr Avhashoni Madzivhandila, pledged their support for the team, saying the team was making the whole Tshakhuma village proud. The chairman of the club, Mr Tshipuliso Ndou, announced during the ceremony that his club had produced a player to the professional ranks. He confirmed that their midfielder, Khumbudzo “Shavy” Muvhango, had signed a contract with Black Leopards. (See a report elsewhere in the paper).

Maweya Takers finished their league programme on top of Stream D of the SAB League last season, but failed to make the grade in the promotional playoffs.
