News  Date: 17 May 2002

HA-MANENZHE –

Khangale was inaugurated in the place of the late Lumano Manenzhe, who passed away two years ago. Malaki was inaugurated with Mpho Manenzhe as Nduni (assistant) and Edzisani Manenzhe as Makhadzi (aunt).

The function, which was attended by people from all areas under main Chief Alone Takalani Manenzhe, was also attended by Chiefs Mutele, Nethengwe, Netshiavha, Gandamipfa Manenzhe and representatives from the government. The mayor of Mutale, Cllr Masindi Lucas Manyuha also attended the event.

All the speakers, including Chief Netshiavha and Cllr Manyuha, urged Malakia to work with his people, other chiefs and other leaders of the community such as the local municipality. Manyuha also pledged his support to the new Chief, while urging him to also work hard for the development of the community.

Chief Alone Manenzhe, who is the main Chief of the Manenzhe areas, which also includes Makavhini, said Khangale came at the right, but challenging time, as the community of Makavhini is busy with the process of claiming back their land, Muhomeni. Muhomeni is an area next to Tshipise, towards Messina.

The Manenzhe family was removed from the area fifty years ago.
