MALAMULELE – The police at Malamulele police station have arrested a father for allegedly raping his biological daughter.

A 51-year-old man appeared in the Malamulele regional court last week on a rape charge. The mother of a 15-year-old-daughter reported the case to the police after she realised that her daughter was pregnant. When asked who was responsible for the pregnancy, the daughter stated that it was her father.

According to Insp Chauke of the Malamulele police, the mother of the child is a domestic worker in Malamulele and the father allegedly slept with the girl when she was working away from home.

The case was postponed to May 14 and the accused is in custody.

In another case a 26 year-old resident of Planjie (Mtititi), was arrested for rape and attempted rape. It is alleged that he raped a 7-year-old girl and attempted to rape a 10-year-old girl. The incident took place on 2 May this year. He was arrested on the same day and appeared in court last Monday.
