MATHE – A mother and her children allegedly commited a horrendous deed, hacking the father of the family to death during an argument at Mathe village on Thursday.
Insp Philip Morolo, the liaison officer of the police reported that the victim, Mr Piet Moalusi (47), was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Mr Moalusi allegedly had an argument with his wife, Mrs Johanna Moalusi and during the argument, he ordered his wife to go out of the home, as she refused to obey him.
It is stated that he later armed himself with a panga and started to chase his wife from the room. During the chase, she tripped in the yard and fell to the ground. The couple's children, two girls and a boy, tried to stop the fighting by throwing stones and other missiles at their father.
As he was hit on the head and fell to the ground, one of the children apparently got hold of the panga and hacked her father many times with wild blows all over the body. After a while they left him on the scene of the fight.
Mrs Moalusi and her two children were later detained by the police and charged with murder. They appeared in court where the case was postponed to a later date for further hearing.
