Two killed following lovers' quarrel

HA-MACHABA – A Grade 11 pupil of Maromofasi Secondary School in Machaba Village was shot to death by her estranged lover while she was on her way to school on Friday morning.

According to police spokesperson Insp Philip Morolo, the suspect, Freddy Mpetengwana (27) waited for his former girlfriend, Mavis Masia (21), on her way to school and confronted her. During an argument that followed, Mpetengwana allegedly produced a fire-arm and shot Mavis several times.

She died instantly and Mpetengwana fled from the scene after he had shot her.

School children later found Mpetengwana in a pool of blood. The police transported him to the hospital, were he was certified ead. The police said that they had also established that the deceased had used an unlicensed fire-arm in the attack.
