GIYANI - The Giyani regional court last week sentenced a 28-year-old man, Willy Mzamani Mashele of Xivulani Village, to 6 years imprisonment for robbery.
Mashele was found guilty of breaking into the shop of Mr Move. The incident took place on March 12, 2002 between 24:00 and 06:00 at Tiveka Bukuta Shopping Complex. On the day of the offence, a member of the Crackdown Operation, Insp HB Zitha was patrolling around the complex, since the area is a flash point of break-ins. Insp Hasani Steven Mabaso stated that Insp Zitha arrested Mashele in the early hours of the morning. He was found in possession of designer clothing from Mr Move.
Judgment was also passed on a 21-year-old man, Gezani Robert Khosa. Khosa was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, without the option of a fine. He was charged with culpable homicide. Khosa was driving a vehicle between Mavalani Village and Giyani Township, when he lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. One person was killed in that accident.
