LOUIS TRICHARDT – The police in the Louis Trichardt area have opened cases of attempted murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, attempted rape and unlawful discharging of a fire-arm, following an incident last Thursday (April 4).
This relates to an incident that allegedly happened to Elelwani Sonia Muvhango (25) last week Thursday at around 00:30 at Rissik Street, next to the Full Gospel Church.
According to the police statement the victim and the suspect were drinking at a local tavern. The suspect was only known to the victim as her sister‘s boyfriend. The suspect then asked the victim to accompany him to take money from his car and she agreed.
The statement further indicated that after having walked a distance of about 500m, the victim discovered that the car the suspect told her about, was not there. She decided to go back, but after taking a few steps back, the suspect grabbed her by the hand and pushed her across Rissik Street where he allegedly threw her to the ground.
He then started to tear her skirt and underwear. She started screaming loudly and the suspect started hitting her with his open hand.
He allegedly took out a fire-arm and hit her on the head with it and she lost consciousness. He then left her.
The girl later regained consciousness and staggered to the main street where she was helped by passers-by. When the police visited the suspect’s house, he was not present.
