TSHITAVHA - "The Mighty God be with you until the day of resurrection," said the MEC for Transport, Dean Tshenuwani Farisani, during the burial of Cllr Merriam Sikhwari last Saturday.

Ms Sikhwari, councilor of Ward 32, died a fortnight ago at the Baragwanath Hospital after a short illness. She had been admitted to the Siloam hospital, before she was transferred to the Baragwanath Hospital.

Local Government and Housing MEC, Joe Maswanganyi, said he worked with Mrs Sikhwari in the construction of roads, bridges and disaster houses in Nzhelele.

According to Maswanganyi, Sikhwari played a very important role in the facilitation of debates in her ward, to ensure that the needs and aspirations of the ward came to the attention of the council.

Farisani led the procession to the Khalavha Lutheran cemetery, where she was buried.
