The 2011 South African Traditional Music Award (Satma) winner, Jininka, is an angry lady. The reason for her anger is that there are people who are spreading rumours that she is dead.

“I’m not dead. I’m alive and kicking. I don’t want people to run away when they see me. The people who are spreading the rumours are just jealous of my success. I don’t have to waste my precious time confronting them,” she said angrily.

Ms Jeanette Nkanyane, a prolific singer, said the baseless rumours started when she was involved in an accident while she was on her way to perform at the Big Tree Lodge in the Mutale area. “We were involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle at Tshitanzhe village and my car was damaged beyond repair. I was sent to Donald Fraser Hospital because I had leg and head injuries. I spent a week in hospital before I was discharged. I’m now surprised that some people are saying I’m dead while I am very fit and alive.”

She added that her cousin, Humbulani Ramagwedzha, and her husband, Elia Mulaudzi, were also in the car and spent two days in hospital for slight injuries.”

She said the accident had seriously disturbed her music calendar and she had to cancel important performances. “It is now time to forget about the malicious rumours of my fake death and start concentrating on my music career. I am back on my feet now and it is time to close the gaps left by the accident. I have several shows lined up now and I will be busy promoting my new album, Ndi Lwendoni

She says her new album comprises 10 songs which have already started making waves in the music fraternity. These are Ni zwothe zwine nda toda, Mukegulu vha ya lila, Mazwifhi anu, Muzika, Ro thuba Mutakalo, O mu vhalaya a di vhulaya, Khethani, Zwi do vhuya zwa luga, Tshinoni tsha Nkuku, Mubebi wa munwe ndi wau, Venda, Vhutshilo ndi lwendo and A zwo ngo leluwa.

On the album, she also collaborated with seasoned musicians like Elia Mulaudzi, Humbulani Ramagwedzha, Herman Fox Manganyi, Ntando Mnguni, Ernest Mashell and Dark Tailor. Ndi Lwendoni was recorded and engineered by DJ Davic at Masana recording studio.
