Mabilu FC collected full points in their Limpopo Dairy League match when they beat Tshiozwi Mates 3-1 at Tshiozwi on Saturday.

Almost as if they were going to give their opponents a free soccer lesson, Mates were the first to find the net. It took them only nine minutes to get the vuvuzhelas blowing. Murendeni “Mabongi” Tshidada forced his way through the defence of Mabilu and showed the keeper, Mbavhalelo Mufamadi, the wrong way.

The goal was a wake-up call for Mates’ midfielders. They created several dangerous moves from the middle of the park, with Mabilu chasing the action. Mabilu found the equaliser in the 26th minute when Khuliso Mphidi beat the keeper with a volley, following a brilliant pass from Thato Motheketlela. The score was 1-1 when the teams adjourned for half time.

Mates effected only one change to their starting lineup. They replaced Ntungufhadzeni Masingi with Gudani Sinthumule three minutes into the last half.

Mabilu enjoyed possession for the better part of the last half. Their technical department introduced Elvis Mamathuntsha and Vicent Simali in the places of Matome Matseba and Maselo Mothama.

Mabilu took the lead in the 68th minute. Comfort Mahanelo gave the ball a final touch after a scramble within the box. Late in the match, Khuliso Mphidi increased the margin to 3-1.
