TSHAKHUMA – In 1997, Tshisimani College of Education was transformed into a Community College. Two years later, in 1999, it was again transformed into an Education Multi Purpose Centre. On May 8th this year, the Department of Education in the Province officially launched the new Tshisimani Education Multi Purpose Centre at the Centre's Hall.

In his remarks, the Ramaano-Tshisimani Centre Manager, Mr SM Tshivhase, said that when the Education Multi Purpose Centre was initiated, he was not sure as to whether the centre would make things possible. "We openly salute the giant step taken by the department as now we know what to do and where to go and in that regard no stone can stand on our way," he said.

The launching of Tshisimani Education Multi- Purpose Centre was a sequel to the launching of 12 Multi-Purpose Centres by the MEC of Education, Joyce Mashamba on May 2nd at Tivumbeni Multi-Purpose Centre Hall.

Mr NA Matodzi revealed that in Geography, the Centre operates a weather station with the South African Weather System in an effort to assist local communities, more especially farmers of the Levubu area. He added that learners from different schools in the region are welcome to observe the weather station at the Centre. On behalf of the Multi-Choice Africa Foundation, Mr Robert Hofmeyer, hinted that it is important for the Limpopo Department of Education to recognise the use of facilities, technologies and skills for the broader community. "Turning the former colleges of education into Multi-Purpose Centres by the Department is an innovative way of producing good results for the communities" he added.

When addressing the masses on behalf of the MEC, the District Manager in the Vhembe region, Mr EN Nthangeni, said the official launching of Tshisimani Education Multi-purpose centre gives the centre the official integrity it deserves and the declaration of its existence. "The Vhembe District Department of Education is happy, as out of 12 Centres launched, five are in our District, these are the Lemana, Makhado, Shingwedzi, Schoemansdal and Tshisimani centres," he said.
