THOHOYANDOU – After giving away a brand new Opel Lite car about two months ago, the Thohoyandou Spar has again ploughed back into the community by giving away another vehicle last weekend - this time around, a brand new Totoya Hiace.
Mr Fhatuwani Colbert Singo (44), of Tshidzini Village bought groceries to the value of R120, last month. That was the starting point of his journey to win the combi. His till-slip was drawn on the day he bought the groceries and he won a hamper to the value of R250.
By winning the groceries hamper, Mr Singo and the other eleven people who won the hampers on different dates automatically qualified for the main draw for the Toyota Hiace that was held at the store last Sunday. After picking up the box that contained the keys for the vehicle, Mr Singo, an unemployed father of three, was quick to mention that he had never won anything before.
He stated that he was going to raise the idea of selling the vehicle during a family meeting. He indicated that he would sell the vehicle and invest the money for his children’s education if he got the go-ahead from the family to get rid of the vehicle.
The other people qualified for the main draw on Sunday were each given a consolation prize of a R100 grocery voucher. According to the competition announcer of the store, Mr Thomas Mudzanani, they will give away another car in two months’ time.
He urged the people to take into consideration the fact that they stage promotions on various items in the store every fortnight. He reiterated the fact that they are committed to give a fraction of their profit back to the community as a token of appreciation for the unlimited support they are getting from them. A resident of Tshisaulu village, Mrs. Violet Mulaudzi, won the first car that was given away two months ago.
