SILOAM – Police in Siloam have arrested a 37-year-old man for allegedly raping his 11-year-old daughter.

Police spokesperson, Captain Ailwei Mushavhanamadi said the incident took place at Dzumbathoho in Phadzima on 22 March.

"We are informed that this man was sleeping in the same room with his wife and five daughters. On the day of the incident, the wife left home and the husband remained with the kids. The husband allegedly raped his daughter in his wife's absence," he said.

According to him, the family tried to resolve the issue amongst themselves, until information leaked to the police, who in turn made the arrest last Saturday, May 3," said Mushavhanamadi. The man will appear in court soon. It was also reported that the Vuwani police have arrested a 17-year-old youth, for raping young girls aged 8 and 9.

According to police, the suspect was a regular visitor in the children's home since April 25 this year. "We understand the boy pretended as if he wanted to watch television when visiting this children's home where there were no elders," said Mushavhanamadi.
