News  Date: 09 May 2003

LOUIS TRICHARDT – The Makhado Municipality imported a Mitsubishi model MG 330 grader with a front blade from Japan, increasing the number of graders to 13 in operation at the municipality.

It is, however said, that only two are at present in good working condition. The cost of the new grader is R1 231 200.

In his statement the PRO of the Makhado Municipality, Mr Peter Muleya said that it took two financial years for the municipality to buy the grader. The grader will be used as a stand-by grader. Muleya further claimed that the council is working on a resolution to obtain another grader, that can be made available to the Vuwani, Makhado, Dzanani and Waterval regions.

Muleya stated that the municipality cares about its assets and therefore operators would be trained so that its assets would remain in good condition. "As a Municipality we are convinced that our programme of in service delivery and transformation in particular, is a huge success." He further urges all stakeholders within the municipality to come forward and participate in service delivery matters through proper forums that would assist the municipality.
